fall harvest and a trip to march farm
As I have mentioned in the past, I live right down the road from a beautiful farm and orchard. On weekends it’s a madhouse, of weekender’s, New Yorkers, and millions of kids running around, so I do my best to avoid. On weekdays, and gray days (such as today) it is quiet and still, and there is plenty of time to enjoy the orchards, and the farm stand inside. The stand is more like a mini grocery store, packed with all the farm fresh fall vegetables and fruits. Homemade pies and cider, along with jams and jellies. The apple cider doughnuts are to die for( best when still warm). I refrained, and decided to make my own doughnuts later (baked not fried). I hope you have a chance to check it out this season. If you like a crowd, go on the weekend, if not, stumble over there on a gray overcast day, walk in the orchards, admire the geese, and goats, and stop at the stand for some vegetables, and apples and a warm doughnut (of course).
