How did this happen? It feels like the last two months have flown by and I have barely had a chance to come up for air. I decided a few weeks ago that I would try to take some time off once December hit, and so as I am winding down on my family sessions for the holiday cards, and finishing up wedding albums for my clients, I am officially taking the next month (here and there) off. That means I will be able to spend some time with friends, family, and get some much needed rest for the upcoming wedding season. I thought I would take a moment to go over some of next years plans, and fill you in on some change’s in the studio.
I’ve done this whole, photographer thing for so many years now and have learned some heart smashing, bank account terrifying lessons along the way. But I think i’ve finally settled into a system that not only works for my business sense, but also works to honor my beloved clients and give them a bit of a deal where I can.
So without further ado, here is all the info you need to decide whether or not you want to book with me next year:
How much does a family session officially cost?
For a session I charge $500. This includes all of the edited full resolution files from our time together, and an online gallery. From the gallery you can order prints, framed images, etc. They will be delivered directly to you. A 50% non refundable retainer is required to book your session and the remainder is due one week prior to your scheduled shoot. Sessions last up to two hours at various locations (depending on your preference). Family sessions are inclusive of immediate family members up to 6 people. Each additional person is 50.00 per person. In the past I have always honored my clients by NEVER RISING my prices. I always charged them the original amount at what they started out. This was kinda awesome, and kind of a financial nightmare for me. I didn’t allow for the cost of living since 2001. Whoops. So I have now added on two different types of sessions, a mini session (which I used to offer only twice a year) and a regular full length photo session. The mini sessions are available now year round, on location in my garden, or on location as long as it is within a ten-fifteen minute drive from my studio in Bethlehem. The cost is 250.00. The sessions last a half hour, and are best for older kids, or adults, or a quick family picture. Hopefully this allows for all different types of budgets.
I recently signed up with Honeybook, an online service that takes care of everything for me. This allows me to accept credit cards online now. Of course I still accept checks, but the new system is like an online assistant for me, and I longer have to spend hours working on billing, and drawing up contracts individualizing PDF’s, etc… I can spend my time concentrating on the creative end, which is why I do what I do.
Weddings start at 3,300. This includes 6 hours of my time, and all the images on disc, or USB drive, as well as an online gallery. You can now add on a la carte services, to the base price (such as engagement sessions, albums, extra hours of coverage) and you can design your own wedding package. With out paying for things you don’t want, only what you want. Add on’s include everything from engagement sessions, to extra hours of coverage, a second photographer, etc…
Infant, Maternity & New Born sessions rate is 550.oo. I am also offering a yearly package of 1,000. This is for women who are pregnant and want to capture maternity-through the first year. It includes three photo sessions (an hour each) and you can spread them out as you please: i.e., Maternity session, newborn, and six months. This is a 500.00 savings!
How far will you travel?
Travel is included if you are with-in 20 miles from me (or less than an hour). Beyond that I have to at least cover gas & my traveling time (I charge the IRS milage rate). For weddings that are more than a few hours away from my home studio, accommodations in a modest room must be provided. I also travel around New England quite a bit in the summer & fall, so even if you live in Cape Cod, or New Hampshire, email me, I may be available. I’d love to do some weddings this year in Cape Cod (I used to live there and I love it) Rhode Island shoreline (new favorite spot). So if you are planing a wedding in New England, don’t hesitate to reach out-I can always make special arrangements -I love a good little road trip.

PS- For those who book a wedding or family session before December 31, 2015 I am offering
50.00 off any add on service, or the base price.
