How do you picture your wedding day? Laid back, and warm, with genuine laughs and authentic toasts? Family and friends surrounding you in a circle? Perhaps a barn wedding with a bonfire and S’mores? A wedding set in the woods with café lights strung through the trees? A beach wedding in barefeet? However you picture your wedding I will help you fine-tune that vision, with assistance in helping you connect with like-minded vendors who share that same vision and help bring it life. After twenty years as wedding photographer I have worked with a lot of vendors, and worked at a lot of venues! I am happy to assist in this process when you book your wedding with me!
DO YOU RECOMMEND A SECOND PHOTOGRAPHER, I’VE BEEN TOLD I HAVE TO HAVE ONE? The short answer is no. The longer one is this: how large is your wedding? Will you be at several locations? If so it could be beneficial, but the truth is, you are hiring me for my style, and my experience, I am very adapted to doing weddings on my own. What I would recommend if you want to spend the extra money is a really good videographer.
DO YOU SHOOT FILM? Yes! Film was my first love. I was trained in shooting with a 35mm Nikon camera using darkroom techniques. It is the foundation for everything I do. I love the look of it. If you want to have some film shots at your wedding, just ask! However, where film drops off, digital picks up. Digital is great; it allows me to shoot away without having to change my roll of film right when you are about to walk down the aisle. I can also see the shots I have gotten. You will tend to see me with two cameras hanging from my shoulders!
PINTEREST I think it’s the downfalll of orginality and creativty. BUT I have a love hate relationship with it. I personally like to use it to look at pretty gardens, house remodels, etc. to get ideas. But I do not use it for wedding ideas, not do I follow any wedding blog trends! HOWEVER, if you must “pin” wedding imagery Be sure to pin any image on my blog, or site of your favorite pictures, this gives me an idea of what your taste is; light and bright, black and white, emotional..etc…If you are on pinterest, be sure to send me your profile so I can follow you . This way I get a sense of who you are. I will be sure to create your own pinterest-worthy pics:) You can also follow me on pinterest
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I BOOK YOU? As soon as you know you want to hire me! If you know you are interested in hiring me-I suggest not waiting on booking. We can meet or talk on Skype before you sign a contract and pay a deposit to hold your date. I photograph a limited amount of weddings each month, and can book up to a year in advance for June and October dates. If you are wondering if I’m available for your date, just email me!
HOW WILL WE GET OUR PICTURES? All images are uploaded to an online password-protected gallery. I’ll select the photos that tell the best story of your day, I edit each image carefully and purposefully to tell the full story of you’re wedding. Your gallery is the best way to view, share & order prints and canvas of all sizes. Images are usually ready to view with-in a few weeks from your wedding day.
HOW DO I PRINT MY PICTURES? I encourage my clients to print what they love! Your gallery is available online for up to 6 months from your wedding date. You can order prints & frames, and art canvases directly from the gallery. The photos are printed from a professional quality photo lab, which I have worked with for many years. Prints will be sent directly to you. It’s my hope that you’ll incorporate beautiful prints, frames, etc., into your home— I can help with ways to hang images on your walls (or create a modern gallery wall). I am happy to work with you on choosing a custom frame, or just consult with you on hanging prints. I offer framed prints in a variety of styles to match your taste.
WHY DO YOU RECOMMEND PHOTO BOOKS AND ENGAGEMENT SESSIONS? Engagements sessions are great because it gives us a chance to meet and work together before the wedding. It also puts you and your partner at ease in front of the camera… consider it a test run for the big day! These sessions are meant to be fun and authentic, capturing your personality as a couple. They are also great images to use for a “save the date” card or as a guest sign in book at you’re wedding.
Photo books are by far my favorite way to tell the story of your day. I personally design these books with the intention of creating a beautiful, telling story of you’re wedding that your children and grandchildren will look at. In our digital age, it’s nice to slow down, take a seat and flip through the pages of a gorgeous book. I offer several options for photo books, in different price ranges.
